We recently met October 29, hosted by Greg Alex, Executive Director of the
MATT TALBOT CENTER, 2313 Third Avenue.
In addition to our host, the Covenant meeting included folks from Emmaus Road, Agros International, and the Catholic Seamen's Club.
As the Matt Talbot Center has been in Belltown for several years, it was great to hear it's history; how this ministry was established, how it has developed, and how the services provided have multiplied.
The concept of building relationships, between Covenant members and the Belltown residential population, came up again. The purpose of this relational activity was once again affirmed: to empower residents of Belltown, whether they be from the towers or the streets, to engage in constructive, meaningful, community building service, right in "their own backyard." To that end: we Belltown Covenant members are strategically located, not only geographically, but spiritually,
to reach out to them, that they will someday reach out to us and our member/clients.
Next steps: moving from the dream of a published presence - an online resource called BelltownCovenant.org with details allowing us to make connections with potential volunteers from the neighborhood - to a strategy and plan. What needs to be done, exactly? Who can do it?
Our next meeting is not until January 28. Location To Be Determined.
